Texting in Films – An Evolution

Right on the topic of texting, Tony Zhou explores the various techniques filmmakers used to incorporate them into the show.

I first noticed them in House of Cards, where Frank and Zoe exchanged those sizzling messages. It’s real-time and the scene looks natural. I don’t have to be forced to read from the cumbersome and small screen of the phone or the pixelated monitor. There’s a better flow to the scene.

Just like most things, Tony perceives film as a moving, unfixed form where evolution are constantly taking place. Filmmakers are always adapting and experimenting. And like most arts, it’s a continual process of taking cues from many sources, changing and chopping and implementing them into their work.
