Design Is First Noticing The Obvious

A really great short TED talk by Tony Fadell, a former Apple designer (originator of iPod) and head of Nest thermostat. In this clip, he shares how we often become acclimate to things around us, even though we may not really like them. The flaws just fade away and we focus on other matters instead.

Look around us, is there anything that could be simplified? To change for the better. We may get so used to something that we overlook the challenges we faced the first couple of time using it. The trick is to adopt a beginner’s mind. To see from someone who has never tackle this problem before. To see a room for the first time always gives fresh perspective without any prejudice.
